Redesign

I thought it was about time the site was freshened up a little so I’ve done a rework. It almost certainly won’t work properly in Internet Explorer but I’m a bit pushed for time at the moment. If you want to see it looking really lovely, take a look in Safari for Mac or Windows. There’s some tasty CSS3 stuff going on which you can’t see in other browsers.

Hope you like it!

Get some perspective

New release from Mid-Air

New EP from Mid-Air available for download right now! Perspective and texture blends mellow lounge stylings with crunchy 8-bit bleepyness and classic breaks to create a sound that is both familiar and forward thinking.

Gig

I’m doing a gig tomorrow night (Friday) in Derby in case anyone is in the area. It’s at the big blue coffee company on Sadler Gate from 20:30. If I remember to record the set I will make it available to download from the site.

If anyone else is doing any live stuff, let me know! :)

Kesta and Doss-House EPs

Yoyoyo! Two new EPs are available right now from Kesta and Doss-House.

Kesta gives us ‘A Downbeat Murmur‘ which is a charming melodic journey through an electronic garden full of colours and shapes. That dance. Also check out the ‘Toasted‘ compilation (ded001) for another Kesta track.

Doss-House makes his Dedpop debut with his self-titled ‘Doss-House EP‘. Melodies abound here too with some classic synthy sounds messing with your mind, in a fun way. I particularly recommend ‘Wednesday’. It’s ace!

Lord Numb is on fire!

Not literally, don’t freak out! But the fine fellow has been stuffing his myspace page full of tracks and remixes recently in addition to being featured on the latest Pete Cogle Podcast (Episode #223). Nice work sir!

Bleepshow Special

I’ve just had word from Mr. Pete Cooper that he is planning a special Dedpop edition of his Bleepshow podcast. Episode 199 will be available in about five days and will feature an hour of lovely Dedpop goodness selected from our releases so far.

Bleepshow goes out everyday and is always worth a listen if you are into fine electronic music. Which you must be, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this. Now go and tell your uninformed friends, for it is your duty. :)

Music and Mumblings Podcast

Thanks to ‘The Grumbler’ for including Lord Numb in episode 20 of his Music and Mumblings podcast. He played Stackridge, taken from the recent Dedpop release Comfortably Numb.

Mumu features an interesting mix of styles played by a man with a nice, calming, Peel-esq manner. Listen out also for Azoora and some unfeasibly mellow background music. :)

New Releases for June

Daschön vs Sean Eskimo

ded007 artwork
Split EP from Daschön and Sean Eskimo. There’s an original track and a remix from each artist. Daschön’s mix of ‘The Proof’ makes an already dark track even murkier whilst Sean Eskimo’s mix of ‘Corrugated’ brings a bouncier feel than the original.

Azoora Remixes

Azoora have been making noises for the past few months with their blend of electronica and ‘real music’. That’s instruments and singing in case you weren’t quite sure. This release brings together two of their previously available tracks in remixed form.

‘You capture me’ starts with a beautiful piano intro before diving into breakbeat territory. ‘Marzipan’ mixes shades of Meat Beat Manifesto with a spacey/dubby vocal. Good.

Beat Freak - 808 Beats in my sleep

ded808 artwork
Nothing quite sounds like an Eight-oh-eight! Beat Freak makes his debut for Dedpop with the ‘808 Beats in my sleep’ EP. As well as the original bassy monster of a track, you get a more chilled mix, a Sean Eskimo rework and two other tracks. Check out ‘Translucent dreams’ as the perfect soundtrack for a late night drive.

And if you enjoy your beats crisp and basslines tweekin’ it would be well worth you downloading the Toasted compilation which features Beat Freak’s classic ‘Electro Soul 3031′.
